The current migration from Africa is the largest since  humans almost went extinct. A million years ago, an ice age caused a drought in Africa that narrowed our population to about 1200 individuals. It took a hundred thousand years to regain a stable population, according to new studies of ancient DNA.
Their numbers grew significantly thanks to migration out of Africa through Israel about 100,000 years ago. They differentiated into Neanderthals in Europe and into Denisovans in Asia.
These interbred with the second main wave of African immigrants 50,000 years later, and produced modern Europeans and Asians.
These early immigrants totaled only a few thousand individuals, while today’s Europe contains 11 million who were born in Africa. What will this latest migration result in?
